Ive been browsing through threads for the past couple days trying to figure out my list. Im white and from california with a low GPA and high MCAT. Want to submit in the next day or two. Im reapplying (got waitlisted but not accepted two cycles ago) and am willing to apply to a ton of schools. Really want to get in this time around but just wanted a more concise list of schools that I shouldn't apply to because of they prefer instate, URM, etc. Appreciate the info!

Below is a link to the DO information book. Free PDF version here. Gives info to all the schools about in state and out of state acceptances. They also provide the class size. It shows the percentages of the ethnicities that make up each class. No info on MCAT or GPA. You will have to go on each schools website for that information.

What are your cGPA and sGPA ? What was your MCAT score ? Do you have any physician shadowing or clinical volunteering hours ?

Goro already gave me a list of MD schools to look for but wanted to determine what DO schools would be a waste of time/money due to admissions pref.

cGPA and sGPA: 3.01 after some post bacc classes ( I have taken around 45 upper div units and have a 3.98 since graduating from UCSB with a BS Chemistry)
- 514 MCAT score
- 70 hours tutoring at a homeless domestic abuse shelter (1 hour a week)
- 100 or so hours shadowing MD/DO
- 200 hours volunteering at a pediatric unit
- 700 hours volunteering in a hospital setting
- Work as a server in a restaurant at night (about 30 hr/week for 4 years, still doing this with the MA job)
- Phlebotomy license (40 hours of clinical training with 100+ sticks)
- Will have worked part time (24 hours/week) as a MA for a year by the time I apply (so about 1100 hours total)
- just started to volunteer as a Foster child court appointed advocate last month 16 hours a month

KCU has had a 3.25 gpa cutoff in the past, so you may want to check before paying the fees. Good luck, op!

Are these cutoffs hard for KCU and schools like VCOM and ICOM who have a 3.2 in their admission requirements?

I definitely don't want to throw away money if they won't even look at the app and I'm guessing neither does OP.

What makes you think that you will be accepted to MD schools with 3.01 c/sGPA?
Someone I know has 3.5 c/sGPA with 519 MCAT with great EC and research got into 2 MD schools, 1 in OOS and 1 in CA out of 40 schools.
That tells you its very tough to get into MD schools even though you have stellar everything.

Add more DO schools.
