How can a student avoid ruffling dental school A's feathers & avoid school A finding out that s/he had been contacting dental school B to try to get off the waitlist there ?

So, if u've been accepted to a school & u've accepted their offer by paying the deposit, is there anything they can do to withdraw that offer, because they don't like that u're contacting school B to get off the waitlist there ? Can a dental school withdraw an offer by making up an excuse (any excuse), just because now it found out the student prefers another school to it ?

If a student has already paid the deposit, and the dental school rescinds the offer of acceptance (because it didn't like the student contacting school B), what can that student do then ? Appeal to the AADSAS, hire a lawyer.. ?

Schools can rescind offers, but they have to give you 15 days notice.

The 15 days notice is if u're holding more than 1 acceptance at various schools. I'm talking about if u're just holding 1 acceptance at school A, and u've been waitlisted at school B. Is there a binding contract document that u can show a lawyer, in case a dental school rescinds an offer of acceptance for no apparent good reason, other than that it didn't like u contacting school B to try to get off the waitlist there ?

Uh...why would a school just randomly rescind your offer? You would have to be at fault for something. I doubt they are going to rescind your offer for calling another school about your waitlist position.

But is there a legally-binding document (one u can take to a lawyer if need be) ? And what are the ways a dental school u're waitlisted at can find out that u're holding a position at another dental school ? What are the ways the dental school u're holding a position at can find out u've been contacting w/ school B ?

I think he's asking on the sole basis of School A disliking that you are contacting other schools.

You sound like you are suffering from paranoia.

This seems odd. Dental schools know that they accept students that have a different "dream" school that they want to get into.

Students do however, need to be careful when talking to other schools. Admissions offices have what are called telephones. If the student is talking bad (not saying that you did) about the school that they are currently accepted to (school A) in an attempt to persuade School B to accept them. School B can easily pick up the phone and call School A and let them know.

Dentistry is a profession and if anything was said about school A that was unprofessional and school A finds out they could decide to take away the acceptance because of a student being unethical/unprofessional.

BUT for just contacting the school to check waitlist status? Seems a bit odd...

*Not saying that you did any of this just hypothetical scenario that could happen and cause a student to get acceptance rescind...

IF YOUR QUESTION IS HYPOTHETICAL and HAS NOT YET HAPPENED THERE IS A 9😀% CHANCE THAT IT WILL NOT HAPPEN and you can just sit back and relax because you've been accepted!

If you cross your fingers when you pinky swear it doesn't count.

Would u have a case that can be won in a court if a dental school does rescind their offer for no apparent reason ? You have proof of deposit payment, their acceptance letters & other documents/emails of acceptance. Can u use these in a court to prove u were clearly given the acceptance & fulfilled requirements, so that their reason of "accidentally" writing ur name on the acceptance email/letters doesn't hold water in a court of law ?

Is there a binding contract stated by AADSAS about what the conditions need to be to rescind an acceptance offer ?

What are the ways school A that u've been accepted to can find u've been contacting school B that u're waitlisted at ? And what are the ways school B that u're waitlisted at can find out u've been accepted to school A ?

Did you read the responses....?
If you are really concerned that much with specifics go see a lawyer.

Perhaps you should tell us more behind this scenario. Unless you/the applicant have done something seriously wrong (i.e.: failed a class after acceptance, etc), why would a dental school rescind their offer for no apparent reason?

I am not a lawyer, but my answer would be hell yes to the above.

But my question to you is, why in the world would a school accept you and then later, for no good reason, reject the offer? No school with its right mind would do that. They spent time reviewing your application, time interviewing you, time comparing you to others, and finally decided you were a good fit, all out of no where, theyr gonna throw all that away? makes no sense !!

I don't think your breaking any rules by accepting 1 offer, and being on a waitlist at another school.... IMO, there is nothing wrong here. I think your worrying yourself over nothing

Something isn't right...

You didn't just "CONTACT" school B, did you?

It is just contact school B to ask about waitlist status. I'm just wondering if AADSAS has something that lists situations where a dental school can rescind an offer ?

Be honest. Did you kidnap school B's daughter and try to blame school A and then get caught up in your game?

Let it all off your chest young'n. This is SDN, you can trust us.

I doubt school A will rescind offer if you talk to school B about your waitlist situation. Check your phone though school A may have tapped your phone to see if your talking to other schools. You know what scratch that they may have bugged your house dude!!!!!! I suggest you go to a public phone to call school B.
