Okay it is count down to application time. I am on my last semester of pre-reqs, my GPA is mediocre maybe 3.2, planning on taking the MCAT in June, I have a LOR from a professional, a DO, and my premed committee is putting one together. I have tons of volunteering and a handful of shadowing, patient experience, URM, etc. It will not be until my "off" year but I have been asked to do research with one of the chemistry professors. I am thinking applying to my 2 state MD schools, the neighboring state's MD school that likes "regional" students, and then the rest straight DO...for a total of 12 schools. That sure does not seem like a lot....should I pretty much apply to every DO school in the book? All of a sudden the "easiest" part of this seems very daunting...choosing a school. I just want to get in SOMEWHERE!!! Any advice, suggestions, ideas!?! Thanksssssss...................

I suggest you start applying with the plan that you apply to 10+ schools right off the bat. Your GPA isn't unforgivable for DO schools, and even for some MD schools, but it's hard to say in your case since you didn't list the schools or what state you're in.

It's hard to know your chances without knowing your MCAT scores. If your MCAT total comes back lower than 28 or so you'll need to expand your number of schools. If it comes back 33+ your chances start looking a lot better even with just 5-10 schools. The "What are my chances?" forum can probably help you better!
