Hey, just wondering what you guys thought about as best schools to apply to if youre not a permanent resident and also not a Canadian. I know some schools are accepting less applicants or not at all (Tufts).

Where are all my fellow F1 applying?

Damn, 246 views and not a single reply. Okie OP, I am also an F1, if your stats look good then apply to nova, Michigan, Indiana, buffalo, Detroit, unlv, western, case, NYU, penn, Loma Linda ( only if you are Korean and SDA), ucsf. GL

Thanks monkeyteeth and doc toothache for replying to this thread!
So Monkeyteeth, you say "if you have good stats"... is it hopeless for low stat F1?

I'm also F1 and I'm applying to 16 schools.
My stats are 3.95 overall/science gpa and my DAT averages at 21.
In my opinion, I am worried because there are limited spots for international students. I would be happy if any private school will just let me go and get a license.

It seems like F1 student aka international students require higher grade and DAT score compared to other applicants to be considered. As a Canadian applicant, I have just average DAT score and strong EC. So far i received one interview. Give it a shot and see what happens, because you never know whats going to happen. Good luck 🙂

P.S I would also add Midwestern and Pittsburgh on that list

In general, you should have good stats unless you are a smooth talker that could easily charm people. Schools like nova and the like prefer people with high gpa and DAT. Their interviews are so relax that everyone said they felt pretty good about it when I asked them. So what determine the admission are gpa and DAT. They picked people with highest stats first and place the rest on the waitlist. Their average are 3.6; 3.7 and 21. Some schools will give preference for instate or ex-military with 18 and 3.2 over 21 and 3.6 ( which I shall not name lol). last year 400 or so international students applied to temple and none get in. Midwestern requires a financial statement that is equal to the total cost of study for f1 student (400-500k) . If I have that amount of money in my bank I would be permanent resident a long time ago. So to sum it up, yes you should have good stats since f1 is given the lowest preference especially for state school ( check ucsf website about admission for international students if you want to know more).

Monkeyteeth: Hey! somehow its comforting to know that there are fellow international predents out there that are on the same boat! Are you going to be applying this year as well?

I believe Howard and MWU AZ also asks for proof of full tuition, and granted we dont have 400k in the bank, what schools are still in applicable to us? Was that initial list of schools cleared?

Jeez, I guess with a GPA like that, you should be on a safer boat than I am! Congrats~

Hey congrats on the interview invite!! 😉 Where is it at?

Sodam, did you already have a school list ready? I can message you my list of 16 schools if you like.

I am an incoming d1 at Nova this year. The list above is from my experiences through out the interviewing and talking with fellow students. Btw, cross unlv out of that list, they are not really oos friendly at all. I talked to a instate on the waitlist with an 18 aa and an oos on he list with an 25aa. Somehow, the instate guy had higher ranking than the oos. Beside 90k for tuition is really ridiculous.
