I did my MCAT in August 2001, and would prefer not to write it again 🙁 . Are there any schools that would take an August 2001 MCAT? I seem to recall there are one or two such schools, but can't remember who they are, so please help me. Thanks.

Some schools have cutoffs at three years (which you're safe with), very few (none that I can think of) require newer than 3 years old. If your scores were OK I'd apply.

Also, the MSAR or the various schools websites can tell you what their requirements are.

Thanks Flighterdoc!

But I thought the three-year requirement is counted from the year of entry to med school, not the year in which one applies. Is that not true? In other words, for 2005 entry, the oldest acceptable MCAT would be 2002. My August 2001 MCAT would be too old. Please straighten me out on this confusing point, i.e. where is the three-years counted from. Thanks.

If you purchase the MSAR it will tell you or better yet go to each medical school website to find out. There was another thread regarding this issue not long ago do a search.

Its half and half. Some medical schools take 3 years from year of entry, some take it from year of applying. I typed up the whole list already. Search for it.

I've heard that some go even farther back than that - to when it was set to its current format or so.

Thanks to all for the help. Yes, Hypersting, I found your list. It's great!

To all, I end up in this situation becase of some twists and turns in my career interests. And to those still in college, think carefully when you time your MCAT. All the best.

I was in a similar situation ... having taken my MCATs in Aug 2000, and applying for entry fall 2004 ... the generous ones that I found that allowed four years of validity were Case, UVM, Rush, SLU, UMD, UMiami, Albany & Wake ... hope this helps, and good luck
