My search turned up threads from 2008, so I thought I'd ask now since Step 1 has surely changed in that time.

I know there are a number of U.S. schools that allow students to take Step 1 during third year. I'm sure that being in the hospital/clinic helps your knowledge base, but I'm just curious how much it helps?

Is anyone here from one of those schools? If so, did you feel that doing rotations first helped you with your Step 1 prep or was it more tiring having to concentrate on studying for Step 1 on top of rotations?

You don't want to do that. The longer you are away from the basic sciences, the harder step 1 becomes. The wards are a different universe.

Well, it's not an option for me. lol. I was just curious and hoping to hear from people who have done it.
