I have heard back from ~20% of my school list so far, and I'm wondering which schools do silent rejections? I recall hearing a few schools did that.

No holds for me, so far it has just been radio silence for me in this historic month of II. Maybe applying primarily MD/PhD has an effect on the timing too?

Lets clarify how this works.

1) Schools are only deciding to admit you either via direct acceptance or alternate/WL
2) Schools are only required to inform you of an admission action. Many schools never send any other notification including a rejection notice.
3) Understand, all applicants start as "not accepted" or rejected. The concept of "silent rejection" only exists for premeds
4) And its only early Oct. At best, schools have reviewed 50% of application, likely much less. Interviews invites will continue into the new year

Thank you for the response! Seems I need to work on my patience skills a little more

I think you'll probably hear back if you were rejected later next year. I applied 2 years ago and every school I applied to formally rejected me with an email after months of silence (no II that cycle) lmao

Isn't it a bit unfair tho since we pay ~$140 for schools to review or app. At the very least they could send an R just to let us know they looked at our app.

The only absolute answer is if you dont have a seat by middle of August 2020 you are rejected.

I thought that “you’re always rejected until you have an acceptance”... hmmmmm....
