Schools That Put More Emphasis on Higher MCAT Scores?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
as opposed to GPA, or what? or which ones have the highest average mcats? (which mostly also have the highest GPAs) don't really understand the question

I'm interested to know this as well. My volunteer activities are very limited and I'll be turning in my apps after doing the MCAT in August, so the MCAT will have to be my saving grace if I want to get into a good school this year. If I do well on the MCAT, which I hope to, focusing on schools that seem to emphasize numbers might benefit me

Yeah I meant as opposed to GPA... basically I have a high BCPM (3.8) and a low cGPA (3.37) and I want to know what school place more of an emphasis on higher MCAT vs Higher GPA.... trying to see what MCAT score I need to be competitive/....

Check out MSAR or LizzyM's spreadsheet, but really both factor in heavily. Either way if you score 32+ you'll get a look at, since someone would be curious as to how do you score 90th percentile, have an amazing BCPM, but a below average cGPA, and then hopefully you're ECs, PS, and LORs are solid.

Its not the the process is an entire crapshoot, but it depends on the individual. That 3.37, was it because you came out of the gates slow and then kicked ass the rest of the way? Or did you stall out and sputter later on? The application is an overall package, not pure GPA or pure MCAT.

Stanford seems to put a lot of emphasis on it...

Yeah, to answer your question, I had a really crappy Freshman and Sophomore year, a lot of tough personal issues I wasn't/was dealing with. I worked full time 60+ hours during those years. I have worked at least part-time all throughout my undergrad. I decided to study abroad during the end of Sophomore year and decided I wanted to get into medicine. I transfered from CC (CA resident) to University of Washington and finished UW with a double major in Communications and Social Sciences (Humanities). My cGPA at UW was a 3.74, but factored with my first two years I have a cGPA at about a 3.37. I moved back home (CA) to do post-bacc science classes and am expected to have at least 3.80 sGPA. By the time I apply (2010), I will have a year of internship/shadowing/research/OR time at Children's Hospital, 3+ years of Church volunteering, 1+ years Pre-med Club, 3 months rotation at local hospital, 3 week pre-med triage trip to Africa, 1+year Tutoring children, and random camps and events volunteering.

I understand the application process is more than grades and scores.... I believe that I am what medical schools are looking for and I have what it takes.... But I have posted a few things and read TOO many entries where people are like "too low GPA=no chance" and I am psyching myself out. Thanks Longshanks for reiterating that the application process is an overall package, sometimes I overanalyze.

No more input from anyone?
