i just realized duke requires a year of calc. i hadn't realized that before. so, if i get accepted (big if) and only have calc 1, do you think they'de be at all flexible? meaning either waive the second half, or let me take stats or something more applicable to med school, or do you think it's basically take calc 2 or get acceptance revoked. thanks for any opinions.

I don't know...my school was pretty stringent on their requirements.

F- duke for wasting your time on useless classes.

it depends. some schools will revoke your acceptance if you don't meet their premed requirements, post acceptance. others may let you get away with it. i would NOT take any chances here.

you most likely have to take it.

even though i took a year of english...and i would not have been able to graduate my undergrad without it...but smu still wants written verification that i did.

so im thinking if schools are pretty strict...i would assume duke would be as well and make you take that second calc. i guess summer school is in the future for you. but you have the prospects of duke...thats hella sweet.

Are you sure it's not a year of math including calc 1 with a possible statistics/computer course as well. Most schools want a year of math, and not specifically a year of calc.

Double-check, and if push comes to shove don't hesitate to call and see how lenient they are, or if you can substitute another course.

Ernham F- duke for wasting your time on useless classes.

And believe it or not, taking a class that covers Intergrals and intro to Partial Differential equations is extremely helpful in understanding non-linear pharmacokinetics, i.e. how drugs distribute throughout the body. But I guess you knew that.

hey dude just because you are too dumb to figure out how to get your TI89 to integrate "x+1" doesnt mean you should be bitter about math.

i think everyone should have at least 1 year of calc. You may not realize it but it really improves your ability to logically work through problems and i would venture to say that you will never really understand physics without understanding calculus.

When I was at Duke, they said they would take statistics as a substitute for second calc. I think many other schools do this as well.
