I will be applying as a reinventor myself in June. Could those who have gone through it post some of the schools you believe are the most "reinvention friendly" (MD)? I know all DO's are. I have already targeted MSAR schools with 10th percentile at 3.2-3.3, but just thought I'd get some insight from those who have gone through it and come out on the other side.

Rosalind Franklin.... but they do get a lot of apps.

I typically recommend these MD schools, but the caveat is that you need an MCAT score of > 33 on the old scale (or > 513 on the new):
Your state school(s)
BU
Gtown
Drexel
Albany
Tufts
BU
Tulane
U Miami
Case
Duke
UCSF
Columbia
Dartmouth
GWU
NYMC
Vandy

@Goro Do you know how these schools look at an applicant with an above average cGPA (3.75 - 3.8), very low sGPA (3.1 - 3.2), but high MCAT (Above 35)? With an upward trend of course.

It will depend upon whether the sGPA was cratered early in your careers, and was raised (but not ultimately a lot) by stellar performance in science courses later on. But without reinvention (which I define as acing a post-bac or SMP), you're staring off behind the eight ball with a sGPA that's well below the 10th %ile anywhere, including DO schools.

Just make sure they aren't state schools (except for your own). You're just wasting $$$.

And is reinventor the word being used now? I always used career changer. Anyways, if you haven't start writing your personal statement and eloquently sell them on why you're making this change and will be successful. Also, I recommend getting 2-3 science faculty LORs if you are coming from a non-science background.

I'm the exception, but I received IIs from a few programs off Goro's list with a sub 33 MCAT. But I also know it was the mitigating factor with many of the programs I applied to.

I use the more common term "non-trad' for people who change careers or come from a path that is different than the typical pre-med undergraduate.

To me, reinventor is someone who does significant GPA repair, whether they started out as a classic pre-med or not.

Good advice, thank you! And to @Goro 's point, I am not a career changer and do have a science background, always pre-med. I did GPA repair at my in-state Master's at Wayne State.

To add to the list, SUNY Upstate has high nontraditional rate in each class. They favor in state apps, but a reasonable number of out of staters get in as well.
