Hi guys,

Sorry if it seems like a silly question, but I was wondering what schools, especially Canadian friendly, weighs the GPA more than the DAT. I'm planning on applying to NYU, USC, Case, Columbia, Michigan, and Minnesota, for now. I have taken the canadian DAT (AA 18, TS 18, PAT 18) and am planning on taking the May american DAT.

Thanks in advance 🙂

As stated above, the general average on the DAT sections is roughly a 19. Many schools will filter out. Your best bet is to retake it. As a Canadian resident you are already at a disadvantage.

Yeah you better retake. Even with a great GPA an 18 probably won't do it. Now that you know a little better about what your getting yourself into with taking the DAT you know what your weaknesses are and what you need to improve for the next time around. Everywhere I interviewed seemed to care about the DAT a lot. Best bet if you are not going to retake it is apply to bunch of schools (like 15) and look at the ADEA guide to dental schools and see what their average DAT and GPA breakdowns are.

should really try US DAT
Some US schools would prefer US over CDAT
I took both, and got higher on US DAT
Good Luck 🙂

everyone, the OP already said that they were going to retake the DAT and take the American DAT lol

The only school I have actually heard say they way GPA more than the DAT is TN. But it's not OOS friendly.
