All,

I have a quick question. What courses count toward your science and math gpa? For example, I took an introductory biology course as a undergrad and a slew of other basic science courses (earth science, geology). I also took pre-calculus, and business calculus. Does all of this count? Or is only the standard required courses? I am starting over now (10 years later), taking all of the basic pre-med courses. Thank you!

There are course categorization rules, which have official sources and can be read. There are also premeds who will paraphrase and get the rules wrong.

To find the rules for MD schools, go to AAMC.org and find the AMCAS instructions. Then search for "coursework".

Similarly you can find the rules for DO schools at aacom.org and the rules for Texas by googling TMDSAS.

Best of luck to you.
