History of Science.....

Probably not. If it was administered by your school's history faculty then I am guessing it would be a HIST 201 type course so no..no science GPA.

It does not depend on what faculty teach the class, if it was a science class then code it as such. Be prepared to back up your decision to count it as a science class though!

Uhh.. I don't think so.
Sounds more like a history class than science class.

Sounds like your taking easy classes in attempt to pad your Science Gpa. I can't blame you, I'd do the same thing if I could find some.

Does anyone know whether dental schools look down upon this? I mean if they purposely see you taking easy science classes that are usually required GE's for other nonscience majors, do dental schools care whether you do this? Because seems pretty messed up if a B in physiology is worth less than an A in chemistry for non sci majors.

take physiological chemistry its easy

I was under the impression that AADSAS has the final say in whether a course gets counted in your science GPA. I know we have to classify our own courses but I figured that in the event someone tried to place a bobo course in the science field that they would catch this and only count it in your overall GPA. Does anyone know for sure?

NO! Those classes only count toward your BCP-GPA (Biology, Chemistry, Physics). Other science classes count toward your Science-GPA (which also includes math). If you have questions, ask your prehealth advisor to help you categorize classes.

are psychology classes included in science gpa?

No, History of science is part of a requirement (humanities requirement, although the school lets this course count as a science course for non-science majors and others, so its weird)

Actually.. Psychology courses are NOT considered as science courses! I thought they were, but according to AADSAS, they're not.

Also, classes like astronomy, math....

Follow the link at the bottom of this page: Go to page 35, anything with an E next to the class goes into calculating the Science GPA. Anything with a solid circle is used in the BCP GPA. This should clear it up....

History of Science.....

I just looked at the AADSAS site and it didn't specifically have "history of science" however did have "history of biology" and that class was under science gpa. It could also fall under the "Other Life Science" category.....

what about biopsychology courses? would those count in the science gpa?

I'm pretty sure "Biopsychology" is a psychology course. I've taken "biological psychology" and that is not considered a science class. You should take a look at the link someone posted earlier.. it really clears things up..

I seriously doubt that this is counted as a science class by dental schools.

History of Science denfinitely sounds like a humanities course.

They even probably make you write essays.

I'm taking a upper division biology course called "Develoment of medicine". It is very informative and not too tough. You could take something similar at your school if you are just looking to boost your science GPA. 👍
