Ok, so I want to apply next June. I live in SF, have a degree in archutecture, and I will be done with all my pre-reqs in May. I have taken many prereqs at CC and will have 4 pre reqs at a 4 yr school. I spoke with UOP & they told me that there is NO WAY I would even be considered unless I have two years/ 4 semesters of 3 science courses/ semester AND an elective. Is this typical for schools? Do I stand a chance at other schools? I'm pretty upset right now. I have been working so hard and that was my top choice. Of course I want to get in somewhere. Does anyone have advice? How many people do 1 or 2 sciences per semester. Do I stand a chance?!

whats hurting you is the fact that you took your prereqs at a CC...
Im a psych major and I took all of my prereqs at a 4yr college and I do 1-2 sciences a semester. I have gotten 4 interviews - but I do think some colleges (baylor, new jersey) dont like the fact that I havn't taken many upper divs.

maybe you can spend an extra year doing a masters - and kick butt in all those science courses 🙂

its the only way for them to gauge how you will do in DS... whether you can handle so much science thrown at you.
DAT doesnt really account for that - it is really broad and once you take the test, you kinda toss it =\

I dunno but I am kind of in the same boat. 4 year degree in Econ/Poli Sci/Philosophy and my science pre-reqs at a CC. I work near full time so I can only take 2 courses a quarter as well. I emailed a few schools awhile back and asked if it was an issue that my coursework was from a CC and they told me it doesn't matter too much and a lot of applicants do take pre-reqs at CC (that was UW). We'll see.
