Does anyone know which DO schools have GPA requirements? My science GPA was calculated to be 2.978. Would the schools round that to a 3.0? 😱

Most DO schools have a minimum of about 2.75.

KCOM's science g.p.a requirement is a 2.5. DMUCOM, UMDNJ-SOM's is a 3.0. LECOM, MSUCOM and UNECOM's is a 2.7. COMP's is a 3.4.

since these schools use only one decimal point, do you think they would round the 2.978 to 3.0?

I'm like you-have a 2.93 overall sci gpa but a 3.1 post-bac gpa ( was a non-sci major as an undergrad)...I don't think they will round, but it is very likely that they will not auto-chop you for being so close, even if they do have a 3.0 cut-off... and that they will look at your entire application (albeit very likely with the expectation that there are factors in the rest of your app that will offset the gpa)

i would suspect that since 2.978 is so close to 3.0 that they wouldn't hold that against you, so if they do round to one decimal point you should be o.k., but whether that is a big deal i really don't think you should worry about it.

Where did you get the COMP figure? I believe I was told by one of their counselors that the sci gpa cut-off to get a secondary is 2.75. And it would be somewhat unethical if their secondary cut-off and committee evaluation cut-off were not the same...Although, yea, the avg acceptance gpa is in that ballpark of 3.4/3.5

I got it from the Osteopathic Medical College Information Booklet, it was under the supplemental requirements heading. I guess it relates to the average science g.p.a of people who are accepted.

I think it's an average. The cut off GPA 3.4 is pretty high. If that case, the average would jump to 3.7. 🙂

I'm in the same boat as well with my near 3.0 GPA. When I talked to the admissions officer at PCOM they stressed that they will look at the entire application. I hope they are true to their word. My GPA is pretty much the only thing I'm worried about so I feel you guys. The entire process is just a major crapshoot anyways so best of luck!
