Hey all. A few years ago, I took a Biology 101 class (no lab component) online. Will this still count on my science GPA, or only the bio classes I am taking now that have lab?

"Most medical schools wont even accept credits from community colleges so I'm guessing they dont accept online."

I have not heard this. Yes, there are a handful of medical schools that do not accept community college credits, but the majority do accept cc credits.

As for online science classes, it would be best to ask the school.

There's some wrong info in this thread.

Yes, your course will count in your sciGPA. However, you will still have lab credits needed to fulfill entrance requirements, and you will need some more general biology credits as well. See the CIB in my signature for more info on this for DO schools.

As for CCs and med school, almost all med schools will allow you to take pre-reqs at CCs. Check with individual schools via the CIB or MSAR or their websites for more info.

Online classes will generally work for pre med requirements. I've taken online English, Govt., etc. The "ONLINE DEGREE" debate is something different and inapplicable to the OP's question.

OP, see my signature and the FAQs at the top of this forum for more basic info.

I know it wouldnt count for a pre-req requirement, just wanted to know if it would still be in the calculated science gpa.

Also, it doesnt say "online class" on the transcript and it wasnt from an online school

Yes it should be calculated in your science GPA.
