Science GPA questions

I keep reading threads with people posting their stats who have a much higher science GPA than their overall GPA. I have the opposite problem. Is sGPA given significant more weight than cGPA by dental school adcoms? I feel that my science GPA is a bit lower than I would due to getting B or B+ in every science I have take except for general bio (A's in both). I have finished all the typical prereqs except orgo labs (taking both this summer) and physics II (taking this in the fall). I took orgo 2 (another B) and cell bio this past semester (did have an A, but I think I did poorly on the final - pretty sure it'll drop me to a B).

With that being said, I plan applying this summer, after taking orgo 1 lab and genetics (6 week courses, taken the first half of summer session). The question is will my sub 3.5 sGPA (was a 3.37 before this spring semester) be so much of hindrance that I should wait until after the summer to apply (orgo 2 lab is the only science course I'll be taking at the second half), or will it not be very beneficial?

I guess a third option is to take a gap year and have all my upper level bio and chem courses (bio major, chem minor) count toward my sGPA.

These are the questions that make me hate SDN...are you really asking if a 3.5 sGPA will be a hindrance to you? D0n't want to sound rude but come on....

If people would buy the adea guide to dental schools they would see all the average and range gpa and dat scores for every school. People get in with 2.4 sgpa and many schools have average sgpa of 3.4. People on sdn gotta be like the top 20% of dental applicants

I didn't say I have a 3.5 sGPA. I've got mostly B's in science courses. I have 3.37 and it's going down after this semester. I think this is a legit question. Should I wait until after this summer to submit my application, or just get it in as soon as possible?

I'm certainly not in the top 20%.

It is somewhat true, but you also DO have applicants with all ranges of stats who visit SDN.

3.3 isn't bad at all. Why wait to apply? You'll only be waiting on a few credits that won't budge your GPA significantly enough to be worth it. If you decide to apply after the summer, it will only push your application further back. Also, I can't speak for everyone, but most of the applicants (including myself) that I spoke with found a slight increase in their GPA after AADSAS did their calculations (I had a 3.5X sGPA and it was raised to a 3.6X).

No that isn't a bad score but if you wish to improve it further and enhance your chances you should give the exam again. Check the requirements ask some seniors.
