So....I'm feeling a little discouraged right now.

I haven't taken the MCAT yet (test day is April 24th), So I dont know how much that might help me (hopefully alot)...but I just figured my science gpa and it's pretty discouraging.
It's not that I don't work hard...I just think that I could have worked harder in my first two years of college. but i can't take any of that back.
My overall gpa right now is a 3.46. My science gpa is a 2.7. ouch.
I've got three science classes this semester (Ochem II, Ochem lab, Physics II) that I really am trying to get an A in so I can have a 2.98 as of the end of the semester. but I just don't see this being good enough.

Please, Someone tell me what I should do. I'm desperate here.

I am so set on going to med school, I can't even tell you. (as I'm sure everyone else on this thread is!!) I haven't given myself a plan B because I don't want a plan B. Med school is the only thing that I want. 🙁

Take more easy bio classes such as physiology next semester and if u dont get in this cycle apply again?

I agree that a 2.98 won't be good enough.

If you retake some of the classes where you got the lowest grades, AACOMAS, the DO medical school application service, will substitute the new grade for the old when figuring out your application GPA, provided the number of credit hours is the same. This would allow your refigured GPA to rise faster than it would with AMCAS (MD medical school application service) which essentially averages a retake with the original.

Since u are just taking physics 2 and ochem 2 it probably means you dont have much science credits at all. If you apply in another year 2 extra semesters loaded with science classes will do wonders to your sGPA

if you make all those A's you should be okay for applying to DO schools, you may not get in the top programs though but for sure alot of interviews if you score around a 26 or so..

since your name says baylorbear.im guessing your from texas. i had higher gpa (both cumulative and science) but only scored a 27, did not get a single MD interview invite after applying to all texas schools, but 5 DO interviews, so you have hope in the DO field

DO, unless there is something spectacular imo...

So, what should my science gpa look like to be getting considered/interviews at MD schools? not that DO isn't out the question, i'm definitely looking there too. But what kind of sgpa for MD do I need?

what if baylorbear ended up with a high MCAT score? Like 36+? What are the chances at an MD interview then?

the best thing to do is do your best on the mcat and the rest of your grades...then apply, bc you will never know if you dont try.....if your really shooting for MD consider taking more classes or consider an SMP

Short answer: 3.6.
You may have some room if you get a stellar MCAT, but you are going to need better than a 3.0 to even apply at most schools.
