I'm trying to determine if some of my public health classes would be calculated in my science GPA. How would you classify the following classes?

-Medical Geography
-Bioterrorism and Public Health
-Industrial Hygiene
-Environmental Health

Thanks for the help!

I would contact the AACPM or the admission's department of any school.

Please do not take my two cents to be anywhere near authoritative here...

I have no idea whatsoever with regard to Podiatry school, but that question has come up in the Pre-Med students forum, and the general consensus there appears to be no. It appears that most med schools will not use any courses from public health when calculating Science GPA, unless those classes were listed under the Bio department.

Again, I am only reporting what has been said in that forum, and it may also turn out to be different for Podiatry schools.

When you apply, there is a list of classes which say if they are science or not.

Not sure how this will work: http://www.aacpm.org/apply/2007/PDF07APPINSTR.pdf (on page 12)

Based on that, I would say no to all of them. "Health" says it is non-science. "geography" is non-science, so I'd probably say no to the Medical Geography b/c even Medical Terminology is non-science. Like someone said tho, maybe contact the AACPM to be sure.
