When they say "science letters of recommendation" do they mean recommendations from professors who are part of the science faculty or professors who taught you Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. Has anyone ran into difficulty when they submitted LOR from a science professor that taught a course that wasnt Bio, Chem, or Physics - but rather a course called something like "Human Growth and Development"? I would submit a LOR from a Bio, Chem, or Physics professor but I got mostly Bs and I was a dot out in the vast lecture hall.

I also opted to ask for LORs from science profs who knew me as opposed to those profs where I was one of 450. The only school that I had any trouble with was Univeristy of Detroit-Mercy. They are very uptight about the fact that your science recommeders must have instructed you in an intro bio, chem, or physics class.

Science LOR's generally refers to those faculty in the hard sciences - biology, chemistry, physics. It doesn't really matter if you had a particular recommendor as one of your pre-req instructors. What is important is that you choose not only an individual that can write about your personal qualities, level of commitment, and so but also from the vantage point of how you operate within a classroom setting and your ability to handle demanding material.

I doubt it'd matter in their mind if you got a letter from that professer.

Tufts is specific on their website:
"Two letters of recommendation (one from a Biology professor and one from a Biochemistry, Chemistry, Math or Physics professor) or a pre-professional committee letter;".

I was going to do Chemistry & Physics, but after seeing that one had to be Biology, I had to ask a Biology professor that didn't know me as well.

How strict is Tufts about those LOR's being only from bio, biochem, chem, math or physics profs?

I was going to do Chemistry & Physics, but after seeing that one had to be Biology, I had to ask a Biology professor that didn't know me as well.

o no am in trouble then. I didn't know that. I asked both from bio professors! I've returned home, so I couldn't ask my chem professor! Should I come back in the summer and ask? Yikes! it won't hurt but I think he will say no. am dooooomeeeed~

Guys, I called Tufts once, and they told me "a letter from Bio professor" can be from any professor in Biology department, not necessarily teaches Biology. For example, I'm getting my letter from Genetics professor. It could be from Cell Bio, Parasitology, Embryology etc.
