Could anyone tell me what the SCO's "hold" status means? and if anyone has been put on hold before, could you please share your experiences as far getting acceptance letters or denials?

any info is greatly appreciated..
thanks!

When was your interview? As of the middle of january they had 100 or so deposits for the 124 seats in the class, not counting the interviews that day. If your interview was after that your prob on hold because they don't have anymore seats to offer. If you give Mike Robertson a call in admissions he will be able to tell you how many deposits are received.

Once accepted you are given 3 weeks (two week extension possible) to make your decision, after that they withdraw their offer in order to offer seats to those put on hold. But.....SCO refunds 400 of the 500 dollar deposit if you change your mind before April. Some students still debating other schools with later deadlines may wait until then.

So, they will regularly be getting seats opened as people make their final decisions.. I wouldn't worry til around april or may when desicions become more final. Even then, I've heard of people being told of acceptance in August.

I interviewed last week and just received the email recently about being put on a hold status. So i got a little worried 🙁 So you think they are waiting for people to put deposits down that interviewed in jan?

I interviewed in December and was pretty much told I'd be put on hold because they had to wait for outstanding deposits and weren't sure how many seats they had.

I interviewed on the 16th. My deposit was due on the 12th of Feb, but again, i could have asked for a 2 week extension and it would have been due in march. So yes they prob have offers out to students that interviewed in jan still.

I just stress the fact that SCO offers 400 of the 500 dollar deposit back if you change your mind before the beginning of april. Everybody who applied in Nov, Dec, Jan is interviewing right now. Some people put down a deposit until they have went to all of their interviews, it is quite possible that more seats will open up.

Like I said before give Mike a jingle. He'll give you all the details about what the class looks like so far and what he thinks might happen.

Don't fret yet though. just:xf:

An update, there are 20 seats left. They will be reviewing their "hold" status applicants either the end of this week or the beginning of next week. I suppose it's safe to say that if you haven't heard back from them by the end of the month, you're officially "wait listed".

Hope this helps. I was curious myself.

Has anyone that has placed on Hold hear anything from SCO yet? I have been waiting, so just wanted to hear if anyone got any good news!?

Thanks

Just wanted to say that I stand by what I posted. I did NOT receive a call, but a poster did say that he got accepted into SCO on Friday. I do believe the committee reviewed.. and the both of us may very well be still on "hold" or even more likely wait-listed. 20 seats fills up quick.

so what happens to the waitlisted people if there are no spots by august, do they have to reapply for next year or do they automatically get in?

If the class fills up and there are still people on the waitlist, you're out of luck. 🙁 However, I've heard a good number of people say they've gotten acceptances from schools days before classes start so you never know.
