Ok. So I'm moving to Memphis sometime in July and I'm having a really tough time finding housing. I'm kind of too poor at the moment/can't get the work off to go to the housing fair so I've had to rely mostly on apartmentratings.com and the brochures from the three I did see while at my interview. So can any current (or past) SCO students recommend any complexes, preferably on mud island? Or if anyone knows anything about Cordova (JMU07?) how far is it to school? Here are some things about me

-Cannot handle spiders. I hear arbors is over run with them...
-don't want to be taken to the cleaners when I move out (I saw a couple reviews that said island park will run you out of house and home with "repair fees" when you move out.)
-I'm kind of a princess, I'm not gonna lie (though I think I can deal with older places like riverset)
-wanna keep the rent like...under $800/mo for 1 br/1ba.

Or even if you can give your experiences on complexes you know about that would be cool.

estates at river point.
7 minutes from school with traffic in the AM, clean, and reasonably priced. not sure off the top of my head what the 1 br rent is, but it should be around the range you posted.

***you will save a boat load of money by picking up a roomie or two. you'll spend about 1/2 what you would pay on your own for rent...and when you add in the cost of paying for utilities/internet/cable it adds up over 3 years. not sure what your money situation is but sco only lets you spend a certain amount on rent and i know its no where near 800. just something to think about.

I think you'd like Riverset. A lot of my good friends live there and it's nice! The gym there is also new with awesome equipment and all of the cardio machines have TVs on them. I have one friend who's in a 1 BR and I think regular price is $740.

I love living in Cordova, I don't mind the drive at all (It's about 30-35 minutes with traffic, on a good day it's only about 20). Everything is out there, stores, restaurants, whatever, you name it. It's more expensive to find an apt. out here though.

I also have friends in Jefferson Place, it's not on the island but it's super close to school. It's gated, and it doesn't look all that great on the outside but the apartments are nice and it's cheap.

What about south bluff? It was actually recommended by someone at UT Med but it's really not that far from campus.

sorry....i cant bottle this anymore...I GOT IN TO SCO TODAY!!! im so like excited and shocked and etc now buttttttttt i only have one month to make memphis a home and stuffs....i cant WAIT to meet everyone!!

Wow - congratulations - you probably just set the record for the latest acceptance ever!! Did someone pull out of SCO at the last minute?
