Scoop on Schools

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Good link, but take it all with a grain of salt.

Nearly everybody (or so it seems) dislikes dental school. You could ask guys in the Dental forum how they feel about their schools, and probably 50-60% would say they hate their schools (or major aspects of their schools), with another 30-40% saying they are indifferent (but sure as heck aren't donating any money when they graduate).

It's a strange thought process, but school becomes worse as you go on. Actually, it isn't the school that becomes worse, but it's the situations you find yourself in. Longer contact with dopy professors, longer contact with ridiculous classmates who should be in pre-school (but luckily daddy payed for them to advance directly to dental school). You get my drift.

So just because somebody here or on DT says that "school X was a nightmare" doesn't mean it wasn't doable. But it also doesn't mean that it isn't a nightmare. You've got to experience dental school for yourself to understand what I'm saying.

(BTW, the MAJOR problem students have is with proffessors. Specifically old professors who insist on pimping us and putting us through hell just because they are incompetent and incontinent)

Two more things:

1) a guy on DT nailed my thought perfectly: "Thumbs up, Thumbs down, depending on the day.................."

2) many people will have completely opposite views of their time in dental school. Women with large bosoms are apt to have a great time in dental school. You won't believe this until you are in sim lab and your projects barely pass while the very curvaceous female next to you can turn out a horrible POS project and get high marks. This isn't a comment to bash the students (it's usually not their fault) but it DOES reflect on the instructors.

 Would you recommend I get bosoms implanted so I could also have a great time in dental school?

I couldn't view the link because I couldn't register for DT because I don't know what the "o" in MOD stands for. Man, I feel like a *****. Was this something I was supposed to know before being admitted to dental school?
Anyway, what's the answer?

"o" fits in the acronym "MOD", which stands for occlusal.
