I took my first MCAT practice test today and I was wondering if my scores were good. I want to clarify that I am not showing off or anything I just can't believe it and I am wondering if everyone gets these kind of scores.

Please if you have any suggestions on how i can do better let me know! I have completed all lower division sciences and hopefully will be taking the kaplan test.

Verbal: 5
Physics: 6
Biology: 7----one point from 8!

Thanks for any help you guys can give

Thats nice, compared to the rest of the class i did well so 😛 🙂

Thanks Assembler. It has been a long time and I feel exactly like you, why did i do better than people who took it 2 years ago 🙂 Everyone keep the suggestions coming!

Sorry about that..didn't think you were being serious. My first practice scores were probably lower than that.

If you are taking TPR or Kaplan, that isn't bad. If that was 3R, probably not very good. Good luck. 👍

What is 3R? I am actually in a summer program, HCOP at Stanford, it was an actual practice test from AAMC. So does that make it better or worse? thanks

Well, 3R is a test by the AAMC that is supposedly pretty easy. The TPR and Kaplan diagnostics usually tend to give lower scores than the AAMC stuff. But really, your scores aren't bad if you haven't reviewed at all. The only problem is that you might be starting a little bit later than most of us. Having said that, you can get a lot done in a month so it certainly isn't too late by any means. There have been a lot of people who studied for a month or less and got great scores on SDN.

hehe im not taking it this August 🙂 I have another year to go, but I have to do really well in the Physics part because I do not have the greatest grades in chemistry..thats why I thought I asked you guys now so i can get a jump start

With over six months to study, those scores don't mean much of anything.

That said, a non-trad in my TPR class got 9 bio, 7 phys, 10 verbal on their first practice test after 8 years out of school. So I'm surprised nobody in class did better than that. Which diag was that?

Yeah, you have plenty of time to improve, but have you taken all the prereqs already?

I had similar numbers, but with the 7 in verbal, 6 in bio, and 5 in ps. My main concern is the low verbal score you pulled. The other scores will be easily improved with studying, but you will find the verbal score is very stubborn.

Wait, you guys think he's serious ? Come on

I don't know if he's being honest or joking. I don't care. I respond as if it were a real question.

I'm sick of all the really stupid jokes that go on SDN. I mean who thinks it's funny to make up scores and ask if they're good? It's a lot easier to differentiate between jokes and real questions if people at least try to make the jokes funny.

im with ya. i just dont get this.

this was not a joke 🙁 i thought for the first time, and not takeing bio in so long...well i thought i did pretty good....you know sometimes,,,never mind it doesnt matter. I just came to get some suggestions...not to be made fun of....or told that im a liar. It was a real question...is a real question...im not the smartest person in the group but I know that I have way more compassion than i can say for some of you.

BTW im a girl, its wierd how you guys automatically assume im a guy ....

Well I was concerned on my scores too. I have only taken one practice test. I made a 5 physical science, 6 biology, and 6 verbal. I haven't taken Gen chem II, Org Chem I and II. I haven't taken any physics yet. So, I am not too sad about the sciences..but the verbal sucks. I thought it would be much higher.

I can only relate what I know. There are five people that I know who would give me their MCAT scores(myself included) who took the 3-month Kaplan course. Everyone one us had either a 4 or 5 point increase from our Kaplan diagnostic. Of course, I have heard of people jumping up 7 or 8 points between MCATs. That's probably a bit of luck (or bad luck the first time around) and a lot of studying. I hope it helps. Good luck.

Haha, this is kinda like that time someone heard that all you need to do is make double digits on the MCAT (I'm sure their source was talking about per section) so this guy gets a 14 TOTAL and comes on asking how good he did. High comedy.

We plain don't know your gender until we're told, so we use the default prounoun, which is he.

Thanks Assembler 🙂 Some people actually do read those little side things 🙂 I plan on taking the kaplan class next summer. I have to kick ass on my ps because I do not have the greatest grades in chem. Thanks for all your suggestions.
