Hey guys,

So I just took the first practice test from kaplan online and received a 17AA and 20 PAT should I be worried? :/ I felt like the gchem calculations were a bit hard. Please any advice would help....my test is on the 27th and I am kind of freaked out by this score...

hey. dont worry about your practice scores in kaplan. in fact my advice to you would to is to not make kaplan your primary resource. i know its a lot of money, i paid for it too, but in the end i found out it wasnt worth it. i suggest investing in DAT destroyer or Chad's videos. i personally used dat destroyer and thought it was enough, but chads might be good if you have trouble with some basic concepts. if you act now, you can finish all this material in time for you test, hard work, but very doable. i did destroyer in a week.

just as a side note, my diagnostic 14 AA. real DAT 22 AA 22TS. good luck.

edit: destroyer for ochem and gchem. cliffs ap bio for bio. crack DAT PAT for pat. reading comp and math are up to u, but most recommend math destroyer (i bought it but didnt use it :/) but i really recommend practicing math since it does factor into your AA and it lowers most peoples scores.

Thanks man, I actually have all of those and I have completed destroyer twice but I just recently started to take practice tests, this being the first one so I was wondering if kaplan is a good indicator of how I am doing up to this point!! I am kind of worried with that 17 :/

17 aa for ur first practice test isnt terrible-especially if u realize why u got each question wrong, and are confident that u could get a similar question right on ur next attempt.
I for instance got a an 18 aa on my first Kaplan test- but after reviewing the questions i realized I couldve easily done better, because I really knew the material but made thoughtless/careless errors-prob bcs I hadnt taken a test that long in 5 years and/or I just wasnt comfortable with the style of questions yet...
Take some more practice tests until u have developed comfortable and consistent pace and focus- oh and i agree with implants- those materials are key...good luck

Thanks man! that makes me feel better, I am going through it now and making flashcards for any problem I either guessed on and got right or just got wrong in general!!

Hi!
As someone who used Kaplan a ton for all sorts of tests (and just recently for the DAT) - do not worry I was getting those scores as well. My AA was like ~18-19-20 and PAT 20-21

My actual DAT ended up with a PAT 24 and AA 22 TS 21 - though this was my second time around taking it...Kaplan makes it so there test are a little bit harder to score well on (except I'd say QR) that way the whole "higher score guarantee" is harder to achieve - i.e. you'll do better than there tests and won't need to "get your money back"

So would you say that their practice tests are slightly harder than the real thing? I am also taking Topscore tests a week before my exam! I just want to know if this is a good indication of what I would get on the real exam!!

Topscore is a very good representative of the real exam. I scored 2-3points higher than the Topscore. I think the difficulty level matches up pretty well.
