I do SCS trials in my office and bill 2 units 63650. I’ve noticed that I’ve been collecting 150%, as if it was a bilateral procedure (I.e. mod 50). Is that right? Thanks!

Yes, that's what Medicare pays.

Yeah, Medicare pays 50% of the second lead right?

Thanks- I never bill for programming, that’s all done by the reps. I just didn’t know if everyone collects 150% on a 2 lead trial ( as if it was billed as 1 unit with a 50 modifier) or if 100% of each lead should be collected. There’s been other billing/collection issues for my clinic, just wanted to make sure the same thing wasn’t happening here.

Was looking at my RVU sheet...
At the hospital where I am employed they put a 51 modifer on my battery code (63685), in addition, to a 51 modifier on the second lead

So I got 50% for the second lead
And then for the battery I got 2.6 RVU instead of 7.87 RVU

Is that right about the battery?
