I've identified patients I'm considering for neuromodulation but have been getting held up by the psych clearance portion - long wait times, insurance non-coverage and patients having to pay out of pocket (even the telehealth options). I'm exploring the idea of hiring a liscensed psychologist as a contractor for the group to expedite the process on a per-eval basis. Anyone have any experience with this and Is a practice allowed cover the cost of the eval?

Advantage Point Behavioral has been pretty fast tele option
Not sponsored. I can second Advantage Point Medical. Patients get evaluated via Telehealth in 72 hrs with reports in 2 days after assessment. If no insurance, it's only $100. Also does not simply rubber stamp for poor psych candidates.

A little tit for tat? Is that legal?

No law against employing your wife. She has her own license and malpractice insurance. If we didn't have the service in-house, patients would have to wait weeks or months for behavioral health services.
