What's with "write the MCATs" and "I made (score)"? I've always used "take the MCATs" and "I got or scored..."?

I can't stand any phrases which use the word "MCATs." There is nothing plural about the MCAT; it is a test, a single test. Even if you take it more than once each score you make is an individual score. The only time this might be acceptable would be if someone says "How did you do on your MCATs?" ONLY if they know you took it more than once. What's with "write the MCATs" and "I made (score)"? I've always used "take the MCATs" and "I got or scored..."?
