I know a lot of you guys are going to the ASTRO Annual Meeting in Miami this weekend (including med students with accepted presentations, congrats!). Is there any interest in meeting up socially over [insert beverage of choice]?

It's probably not possible for ALL of us to meet given that people are busy at different times but at least a few of us could hook up. It's always nice to put a face to a username.

If interested, feel free to post on this thread, send me a PM or email me at gfunk6266(at)yahoo(dot)com

GFunk, I would love to meet up w/you at ASTRO and personally say thanks for all of the knowledge that you have bestowed upon this forum. However, as first years we have to "hold down the fort" while the PGY 3-5's go...see you next year though. 👍

Gfunk, great idea! I think the best time would be to meet after the resident luncheon or some other time on Sat/Sun, as most of us will attend that. If that doesn't work, we should keep in mind that some programs are having institutional get-togethers in late afternoons/early evenings.

So I've got a couple of times in mind, please let me know on this thread, by PM or by email which works for you.

The ARRO program (which I presume most of you will be attending) runs on Sat 10/1 until 5 pm with a social gathering starting at 6:30.

So here are the options:

1. Meet at 8:30 pm on Sat 10/1
2. Meet at 7:00 pm on Sun 10/2 (official ASTRO activities end at 6:00 pm)

It seems to me that most of the Department get-togethers and industry-sponsored soirees are on Monday night (10/3) so these two time should hopefully work out.

Hey I'd be interested in meeting up for a bit on Sunday night! I don't think my flight lands till 7:30ish though. If you guys are going to hang out for a couple of hours, I'd love to come by and meet everyone! 🙂

Sounds great, I will PM or email my cell phone number to all who responded. We should meet in front of my hotel on Sunday @ 7:00 pm. The hotel is:

EPIC Hotel
270 Biscayne Boulevard Way
Miami, FL 33131

We can grab drinks and/or dinner and chat. Looking forward to seeing everyone, safe travels!

What are the other fun events going on, industry or not? Anyone going to the Arro reception or the Elekta event on Saturday? What's happening on Monday? Perhaps I will join the fun on sunday evening too. 🙂

On Monday, I think IBA is having a big extravaganza. You have to RSVP for it, but last year they let walk-ins (particularly residents, their future customers) in.

Also on Monday, I think several Departments are throwing parties for faculty/residents/alumni. Both UCSF and Emory (and others, I'm sure) are doing this.

Haha...thanks Gfunk! I'm always looking for a fun party.

Any of you residents and medstuds (and attendings surfing this forum) crazy enough to be interested in running the ROI 5k with me on Sunday AM? The more the merrier!

also there is a fun-looking Elekta charity benefit on saturday evening.
