Second Invite For MUSC???

Last year I was invited for interview at MUSC (I am in state SC) and not admitted.
my GPA went up with another 3.8, my dental exposure shot up by over 500 hours general and specialty, and My DAT went up from 16AA 24PAT to 17:24.
I also have some connections. Yet I have not heard anything this time around yet.
Any thoughts?

(also trying Louisville, NYU, Tufts, Nova, Temple)

It seems like you have improved your application from last year. The only problem you may be facing is that the academic average of your DAT is still below average. If you have still not heard from them about an interview, I would inform them that you will be re-taking the DAT and do so. (shoot for at least a 19: they told me that they look for 19's in every section) Also, what is your cumulative/science GPA. If this is a problem in your application I would recommend a Master's program.

I would email Mr. Liner and ask him. I'm sure he will shoot straight with you. It may be an issue with your AA.

I have been in constant Contact with Liner and he sent me last years averages AA:18 and PAT:20. So I think the 19 is what they are shooting for averagewise but with an average of 18 you at least have to have a couple 17's in there. I am planning on re-taking DAT but it takes alot of prep as yall know and it may not be til Jan-Feb.

My CumGPA is 3.24 with Upperclassman 3.7
A's in OrgChem B biochem mostly A's in Bio

sGPA of 3.11 with a 3.5 after freshmen year.

If they are willing to take a poor freshman year into acount. Plus my second attempt and obvious improvements, I have a chance..

Before you try retaking DAT, email Dr. Javed at [email protected]. Just know that 19 is an avg and people are on the either side of the mean.
If you are a reapplicant, you should get an interview; especially if you were invited last year. Dr. Javed is pretty good about replying emails. Present your improvements to him, he may actually consider looking at your application.

Just got response. I will have an interview Nov. 21 or Dec. 5. Hopefully the earlier one and I kill it. wanna have a Good 1st week in Dec. 🙂

Can you not apply to any more schools? I would suggest applying to some others as well, more chances.

Congrats on the interview Nov. 21st which is actually tomorrow morning.. I had mine 2 weeks ago and they told us only 20 people actually get acceptances for MUSC on Dec. 1st. If your planning on having a good week the first week of Dec. by getting one of those acceptances, you better dominate that interview today! I'm not gonna be disappointed about not having an acceptance until Feb. That way I don't get my hopes up too high.. lol Good luck in the morning!
