Significant others? Parents? Siblings? Nobody?

I'm gearing up for a couple of second looks and was surprised when they asked me how many guests I was bringing. Before that, I was planning to go alone, because it sounds pretty boring for anybody not planning to attend. Are there any reasons that I'm overlooking? Would it be helpful to bring someone?

If you have an SO/family that is moving with you, it might be wise to bring them along to check out the neighborhoods, apartments, housing facilities, recreational facilities etc. Otherwise, I don't see any reason to bring anyone to second visit.

Alone here. I'm thinking that significant other is the only guest that makes sense...

Alone as well.

Also: is anyone else planning to give their student host a gift of some sort for hosting them? Not really sure what to get.

I think that is a valid point.

Also, I just noticed the 3D aspect of your avatar. 😎

I'm bringing my boyfriend, who will be moving out there with me. I can't imagine anyone other than an SO being worthwhile to bring.

I can't believe people would actually bring their parents to something like this. Reminds me of the revelation that top-notch finance firms now hold recruiting sessions for the parents of the people they're trying to recruit.

I went alone, but if you're married/in a serious relationship and have someone that will be moving with you it'd be totally acceptable. I just wouldn't bring them to all of the events of the weekend.
