Hi everyone,

can you tell me what your second look schedules are structured like? mine is with the PD and chiefs and I'm really surprised, is this standard? 😱

Are many of you going for second looks? I, for one, cannot be bothered to spend the time and money to hear more sales pitches. The next time I leave town it will be on vacation.

Hey Norto, I have to, I'm confused. But I'm worried about my second look since its including Pd's and chiefs Im not convinced its a sale pitch for me as much as a weeding out process 😱

I think it's standard, really. They want you to have access to the people who can answer your questions, connect you to the people you want to speak to, etc.

I hope you are right btw, that this really is for ME and not for THEM - a friend of mine asked to go on a second look there and they were told they need to do a second interview 😱

If I am asked specifically to come back to visit a program, I have (or will soon) done so. I think it seems like your not interested if you dont. Several places have paid for plane tickets etc, so its hard to say no I dont want to come back.

Yeah, I think I'm going to go too - but they're only paying for accomodations. My first second look isn't paying for anything 😴 😴 😱 😡

Hey Poety,

During my first (and maybe only) second look, I basically shadowed the second year residents for the morning (morning report, breakfast, grand rounds, didactics, more rounds)...no meeting with the PD or any other faculty for that matter. It was really just intended for me to get any more informaiton I needed on the program...not evaluating me in any way. I did have a meeting with the chief resident, which was likely reported back to the PD, but only in a good way, I would imagine.

Oh, and all at my own expense...but a good excuse for a weekend trip out of town in any case!

how long did it take you guys to schedule your second looks? and is it kinda too late to bother with them?

i've attempted to schedule two on monday. left a phone message at one school and spoke with the coordinator at the other school. as of now, no one's gotten back to me about either. granted, i had fairly specific requests, but this is still perplexing to me.

the only "second look" i've done (it was more like "um, can i stick around the day after my interview?"), i fell in 😍 with. ah, why must it be such a competitive institution? 🙁

btw, did the second look and am IN LOVE with my original number one - cannot WAIT to go there, and I'm hoping and praying its gunna happen. Was told it would - so now we'll see whos really honest about the whole process won't we!!
