Hey folks,

I was fortunate enough to be accepted into medical school, and am looking forward to the second look weekends.

Major concern though is money. I understand that probably all schools can't pay for travel, but how often do schools provide you with some kind of housing/food?

I've heard mixed reports, can anyone chime in with first-hang knowledge on any particular schools?

UVA will def not pay for lodging or travel.

Quote from their email (sent today):

"Unfortunately, we do not have funds to assist with travel or hotel expenses. Also, because of space constraints, we are not able to accommodate friends or family at this event."

I don't know about food. I'm assuming there will be at least some food at the event...

Most will NOT compensate you for second looks, unless they are actively recruiting you.

At least one school will feed you, and feed you well, at several events. Arragements may be made for you to stay with as student host (obviously, the hosts can't be expected to put up members of your family).

i know ohio state will pay for your hotel room if you don't bring a guest and stay with another pre-med.
