HI everyone.
I took my second dat on the 5th and this is my breakdown :
1st DAT / 2ND DAT
Bio: 19 / 23
Gchem : 18 / 24
Ochem : 18 / 23
RC : 13🙁 / 19😎
PAT : 16 / 20
QR : 16 / 17 pfffff
TS : 18/ 23
AA: 17/ 21
Bio : 1st test : it was pretty much simple stuff out of the campbell book, I studied the hardest and longest for bio and I love bio so I only used the whole campbell book and Destroyer. I had 3 question right out of destroyer. I saw only 2 random questions related to DNA tachnology which I guessed.
2nd test : I used evereything I could get my hands on, GRE books, Kaplan, examcrackers, PCAT,MCAT kaplan books, AP and of course campbell. second test was much more detail not hard though I had more physiology and genetics problems. out of all I think the most useful ones in order was the
1-campbell book( I love this book and I never got bored , so for people who loves bio and have enough time, I suggest to go over the whole book or at least the end-chapter questions and glosarry)
2-Ap Bio: if you dont have the time to go over campbell go over each chapter in Ap. know all the terminology (exept plants, I did nt focus on plants that much I just knew simple stuff which covered my plants questions.) if you dont know something in AP go look it up in campbell or internet. make sure you know it. do all the exams at the end of the book ,do the graphs, too. dont go too much in detail though.
3-DESTROYERRRR. for my first and second exam I had questions out of bio section in destroyer, make sure you know all of them . it s good stuff. dont skip the graphs. got a love this book.
Gchem
I used Kaplan, AP chemistry, dstroyer and 1001 examcracker. 1001 examcracker for me was a waste of money the gchem is way harder and the Ochem was way easier than the real thing.
1st test: all calculations, no concept which didnt do me good, no random stuff. make sure you know the trend in the metal and alkaline earth groups and n,l,ml,ms . it will surely land on youre exam.
2nd test : 60% calculations 40% easyyy concepts so I had enough time this time.
do destroyer and kaplan use this website was really usefull for me too check it out : http://www.chemmybear.com/groves/apchem.html do all the chapter tests. it s good practice.
OCHEM
1st exam : all reactions straight out of the books. I ran out of time so that why I did poorly. also didnt know some reagents naming like jones and celemmenton, simmons smith )I had 2 minutes and 8 questons so I guessed. did destroyer, Kaplan, my college books, ACS.
2nd exam : It was way more conceptual than the first one, 2-3 tricky conceptual kinda hardish about NMR and UVs 😉 the rest was easy easyyyyy reactions and resonance forms.
RC
used all practice tests in kaplan and barrons, also CDR( IT WAS A WASTTTTTTEE BIGGGGGGGG TIIIIMEEEEE, DO NOT BUY IT )
1st: I got pianoed, man that was one long passage and I am familier with the piano( didnt help that much) so I ended up wasting my time on the piano and leave out the 2 other passage a short amount of time. the other 2 were ok. later I wish I didnt waste that much time in the first one, oh welll......
2nd: I had the bridges which was difficult but I leaned my lesson the fisrt time so I did each passage in 20 minutes and I move forword to the next passage and guess on whatever left out from the previous passage(which maybe was only one or two ) I would read 5 question before reading a passage ( no taking notes ) and when u read them u have them on the back of ur mind so when u come across them u know them and go to the question and answer it and move one question forword by the time I read the whole thing I would always get at least 11 of them answerd.
PAT: CDP
1st test : honestly I wasnt prepard sooooo yeah
2nd test : I was prepard got all 24 s on cdp
the keyhole and pattern folding was way too harder than cdp. TFE and cubes and angles and paper folding(much easierrrrr) same as cdp
QR:
well im an air-space engineer and got all 29 s on my topscore . got too confident both times and left after the Rc for a 20 min break which took 25 minutes in reality
so lost lot of time and got screwed oh well I dont sweat it much. im happy
