Secondaries that ask "Why MD-PhD?"

Hello!

I was perusing the list of secondaries for MD-PhD applicants from the last cycle as I am applying this upcoming cycle, and I see that some schools ask for students to elaborate on why they want to pursue an MD-PhD. What have people done for this essay in the past, considering there is a "Why MD-PhD" essay on the primary?

I am worried about being repetitive since the question is the same...

I called a couple programs asking this questions last year. They were fine with me repeating basically the same thing - they either wanted to give a larger word count in case we had more to say or a shorter word count bc they wanted a condensed version. I think on the secondaries a few schools even specified that copy-pasting the one from amcas is fine.

I was also amazed how willing the MD-PhD admins were to answer these questions. I wouldn’t hesitate from reaching out. (Don’t bother the program directors though - they’re too busy)
