Secondaries

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't think so... As I recall, your app is sent to schools once it's verified. Prior to that, the school doesn't have your app and wouldn't send out a secondary.

Applications aren't sent to schools until July 2nd, even if you were verified before that. So being verified is not the same thing as the school having your application. But some schools send out secondaries before they receive your actual application, as they get a notification when you add them to your AMCAS.

Is it possible to drop schools if you submitted your AMCAS? I listed 9 schools at the time I submitted my primary but now that I look back, I don't know what possessed me to apply for two of them, so I want to withdraw from those two.
Don't worry Lannister, it's not Case 😛

I think you just don't submit the secondaries, I did that with Georgetown.

Yeah, I was hoping 1. I could get the money back to use towards other schools and 2. I wouldn't count as a re-applicant to those schools if I have to actually apply to them next year.

But I just read on the AMCAS Instruction Manual that "once you have submitted your
application to AMCAS you cannot remove or substitute schools on your designation list
under any circumstances."
🙁

yes you can as cited below from email AMCAS communications contact

Some medical schools opt to receive contact information for applicants who have designated their school in their AMCAS application before those applications have been verified. The schools that elect to receive this information can get applicant contact information before the rest of the application data is verified and sent out. This is why some applicants receive secondary applications before their AMCAS application has been verified or sent to medical schools.

Just to follow-up on this... none of them see the MCAT score until after verification, right? I know the gpa would have to wait, but since MCAT is inherently pre-verified by AAMC I figured that might be included with contact information.
