If you apply to a school do you automatically receive a secondary invitation?
Why are people getting all excited when they get one?

It depends, for the vast majority of schools it has become an automatic invitation. They get your money and reject you later if they wish.

Some schools still screen, like the UC's. It's those schools that screen that people are excited to recieve secondaries from.
