Let's say you submit your primary with a MCAT score of 30 (which will go through any pre-secondary screening) but you are also taking another MCAT 1 month later.

Do schools screen you and send you a secondary? (assume adequate GPA) Or, do they wait until your new MCAT score THEN screen you? (even though your first MCAT score would have already passed the screening threshold in the first place)

(sorry if that is confusing)

each school will do it separately. most likely you wont get to the interview stage till you have a score in there for the future test. but you may get secondaries from some schools (NOT ALL) that send auto-secondaries (ucsf/harvard/columbia come to mind...)

Thanks. I didn't know UCSF do auto-secondary.

I was wondering about the schools that do screening for secondary. Do they wait for your new MCAT score even though your current MCAT score is more than enough?

Tufts is a good example. I applied this past cycle with my initial mcat score in early June with my retake planned for august. I received an interview invite to Tufts in September...before my second mcat score even came in. So since my score was acceptable to them, they decided to go on and interview me. The rest of my schools waited until my second score arrived.

Just realized that response answered your initial post and not your latest question. I don't know if the schools that pre-screen for secondaries wait or not, but you can call. A few schools that pre-screen that I know of are: Wayne State, Loyola, and Vanderbilt (pretty sure).
