The secondaries are starting to roll in and pile up. And the hold up is mostly another essay that I have to work my way through. Does anyone have tips for what to include in the essays (topic being "why do i want to attend _____ school")
Thanks

Dear Toothpaste,

For my secondaries about why I want to attend ______ school, I would recommend checking out the school websites. Most of the information that they put on the school websites is the information that they feel is the most important about their school. I would write my essay that encompasses this information unless you have some other sort of unique interest in the school. (An example would be the APEX program at BU. I would write about how this provides me a unique educational opportunity. Another example would be Creighton. I would talk about how much I wanted to attend Creighton b/c my grandfather loved the school so much). Hope that helps!

Good luck,
Jessica

You can anticipate a lot of schools having the same sort of essay question(s). Thus, you don't have to start from scratch each and everytime. While it is important to tailor each essay to the school so as to include information about their specific program, you can recycle a lot of material in your essays. After all, it's not like you have to come up with a unique reason why you chose dentistry, etc. to list on each secondary application.
Develop a good essay and modify it to fit each application if you come across a lot of similar questions. You'll probably come across some questions that are very specific, and those will take time to formulate a response from scratch. I suppose a person needs to approach the process with a certain degree of commitment in order to get those secondaries back to their respective schools. Make a goal of writing and editing so much everyday. That's what I have done as I too am feeling a little overwhelmed with "please submit a one page essay.." on virtually every secondary I have received.

Hey guys. I too understand the stressors of the secondary applications. I have many essays to write. But recently, I wrote a secondary essay for Marquette. Although they stated that they wanted a one page essay, my essay went over to like 1.5 pages. Will Marquette frown upon this? Well thanks for any feedback. Good Luck to all of the applicants.

If they ask for a one page essay, why would you want to send them a 1.5 page essay? I would follow their directions as much as possible.

jheidenr is right on. don't send a longer essay than they ask for.

sprngrover is right too. a lot of the essay topics overlap. i recycled my essays to the best of my ability to cut down on tme spend writing essays.

good luck!

so is it a one page double-spaced or single-spaced?
