Do all schools give you back the secondary application fee when you withdraw? I withdrew from VCU and got a message telling me I'll get the $100 refund. That's awesome, but sounds too good to be true for all or most schools. Maybe I should withdraw my application from all the schools I am not considering anymore, even if they haven't gotten back to me about the interview?

VCU is a rare exception. Sorry.

I think you misread the VCU message. I just re-read it because I withdrew after being invited for an interview about 2 months ago and never got money back. It says that you will be refunded the MATRICULATION fee of $100. This is the deposit you pay after you are accepted. The secondary application fee is not ever refunded. Hope this helps. 🙂

Aww...darn! I had a smile on face for those few minutes...

refund for our secondary application fees

Wow! You're lucky that school gave it back to you - yeah rare exception. If I had gotten money back from all schools who I withdrew from post secondary buy pre-interview I would have gotten almost $1000 back. Still makes me a little sick when I think about it - people really shouldn't over apply - what a waste of money.

Holy Moly. Like the guy above me said ...very lucky. Give us back all our money!!!

With a pattern of sitting on your application for months, without any action, and no intention of processing your file, they should give refunds.

Better yet they should PAY us to apply!

I have one school that's been sitting on my application for months, silent, and has yet to cash my check. I called the office and they've received it. I'll be happy if they lost the check and consider me anyhow...but otherwise I'll be ticked when they cash the check and I feel like they didn't even consider me.
