So I sent off my AMCAS before I recieved my MCAT score. I scored fairly low and now I'm working on retaking it. However, my new scores will only count for next years application cycle. I have recieved an email from one of the schools I applied to, stating that they haven't recieved my secondary application. I wasn't planning on sending most, or almost all, of my secondaries because I got such a low score. Now I'm wondering if I should send some just to stay on good terms with the schools. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

You can contact the school and ask if they consider MCAT scores post Sept., or you can send an addendum to the school/s stating your that you are withdrawing your application do to recent events.

The schools either think you might be a good fit for their program or they just want your secondary application fee.

Having your stats would make it easier for people on SDN to give you advice.

If you feel that you're not competitive, then don't send in the secondary and waste all that money. I get these e-mails all the time from schools asking me to fill out their secondaries - they're automatic messages that are sent out to all applicants who haven't filled out the school's secondary 1-2 months after receiving them. It's either the school's way of automatically reminding their applicants to turn in the secondaries on time or a way for them to earn more money from the secondary application fees. The schools probably receive 5000-10000 applications per year - it is not necessary to "stay on good terms" with the schools if you feel that you don't have a chance to get in. Better option would be to focus on retaking your MCAT.

I received a 21 on the MCAT and I have a 3.32 ucGPA. My MCAT is REALLY low, so I'm signing up for the Jan MCAT, hopefully I can bring my score up 9 points within these 3 months. I emailed the schools to see if they accept the Jan score for this app cycle; only one will make the exception. The other schools won't accept the new score. For the schools that will not accept the new score, do you guys think I should email them and ask to withdraw my application? Will it make that much of a difference if I withdraw those apps as opposed to not completing them and just letting them be?

It is polite to formally withdraw the application. It is an even better idea if there is any chance you'd ever apply there again.
