Anyone get a secondary to Davis yet? I just got it and after looking at the Essays, this one make Rush look easy! or at least easier. 😱

Isn't it three essays:
1. Describe a difficult situation you have had to overcome in your life or during your college academic experience. How do you feel this will prepare you for a career in medicine?
2. If the practice of medicine ceased to exist - there were no physicians, what would you do instead, and why?
3. Every applicant reflects a variety of backgrounds and strengths. The Admissions Committee assesses the applicant's contributions to their class, the medical school and the potential of an applicant to contribute to society. Please describe to the Admissions Committee what you have to offer in this regard.

So it's easier than in past years?

don't forget part two:

Pick a post sec from each catagory (there are 6) and then write why this will make you a better doctor (1500ch each).

and if you applied disadvantaged:

*Note: A socio-economically disadvantaged applicant is one who, from an early age, resided in a low-income community or experienced enduring family and/or societal hardship that significantly compromised educational opportunities. This definition is suggested by the American Medical College Application Service(AMCAS).

If you have identified yourself as a socio-economically disadvantaged applicant please provide a brief statement concerning the nature of this designation. Describe its impact on your accomplishments to date and on your anticipated future in medicine. Do not copy/paste or repeat comments used on AMCAS Disadvantaged essay. Use this space as an opportunity to update and expand upon information stated on the AMCAS related to this subject.

davis was a monster, but its a good thing. once you finish that, theres no secondary that you cant do.....PLUS, its a good thing davis asks so much because it really feels like they want to give you the chance to represent yourself in everyway possible.

has anyone looked at the Davis math req? Do they really require a year of math in college--it says no AP credit will be counted?

Yah.. Davis is a stickler with math...

I got a secondary!! Whew.. Step one done...next..

I got one and it makes me want to bury myself in a hole. 😉 It will be worth it if I get in, though.

I applied to UCD from out of state (WA) and am curious to know if they are slower to review out of state applicants or if anyone from another state got one recently. Thanks!

I'm in-state, and I haven't received mine.

Can I ask the folks above, when did get your AMCAS processed/verified? Mine was processed 7/11th, and again, haven't heard anything.

Don't stress over it too much. I was processed and verifed in early July last year and I did not get the Davis secondary until September I believe.

It was such a pain... it took me over a month to get it back to them. And things turned out well with them for me. Just write thoughtful answers to the questions because I felt like Davis, more than any school, really looked at the "whole person."
