has anyone received a secondary from UW yet?

about a week and a half ago... in the mail

same here...

anyone send it back yet?

yesterday i finally sat at my computer for more than 10 minutes and cranked it out. now if only i could do that for the other secondaries
😛

just got an e-mail secondary invite now -

aren't they a screen school, y'all? 🙂

I'm out of WICHE so I don't expect them to send me a secondary. This is the e-mail that UW sent me:

Thank you for applying to the University of Washington School of Dentistry. We have received your AADSAS application. The next step is the initial screening to determine if your application meets our criteria to receive a supplemental application. If so, we will then request in writing additional information including a personal statement, letters of recommendation (if not submitted through AADSAS) , official transcripts and an application fee.

Due to the volume of applications, we ask that you do not respond to this informational email! If you need to update personal information on your application i.e. name, address, email, phone number you may do so directly on the AADSAS application website.

Thank you again for applying to our School!

The University of Washington
School of Dentistry

I'm not in WICHE either and I got the exact same email. Do you know if I even have a shot at UW as a cali resident? I haven't taken micro yet, and they're pretty much the only school that I"m really interested in that requires it, so if I don't really have a chance with them, I'd rather not take it.

Anyone not in WICHE or a Washington resident is going to have a very tough time getting into UW, no matter what their stats are. If you don't fit in either of those categories, you better have amazing stats to get an interview and an equally amazing interview for admissions.

With that said, I wouldn't worry too much about not receiving a secondary application yet..still relatively early. If anyone is worried, you may want to give them a call.

Does anyone know HOW MANY secondary applications they give out??

Would someone mind transcribing the essay questions from the UW secondary application? I just submitted my application through AADSAS and I'd like to get started on writing.

I got a secondary from them. Went to uw for undergrad and know a lot about the school. I know that they are big on taking washington residents. So like someone said before, if you aren't from washington, hopefully you have great stats.and good essays if you do get a secondary. Also, I know from friends in the past cycle, that did not have micro done prior to applying, during her interview they were really hard on her about not having it. so just a heads up.

Here are the essay questions from what I can remember. I turned my secondary in already, so anyone who still has theirs please correct/add anything.

1.) How can you add to the diversity of the school? (i.e. leadership, personal or economical hardships, etc.)

2.) Why do you wish to attend the University of Washington School of Dentistry?

3.) RIDE question (didn't apply to RIDE so totally forgot)

Thanks so much! That's a huge help! Was each essay supposed to be about 1 page in length (double spaced)? If anyone else can confirm that would be great. Time to get to work.

why would you want to start writing if you haven't even gotten it yet? aren't you getting a little ahead of yourself? plus, uw is one of the slowest schools to get back to people. fyi.

Yes, each essay is to be 1 page double spaced.

I don't think it's a bad idea to get a head start. I got 4 secondary applications in one day and had a somewhat difficult time with them due to classes and work.

I do agree that UW is one of the slowest to get back to applicants though (unless they were really impressed with you)...so for all the people without secondaries, they may be coming soon. 👍

question please!

my friend told me that EVERYBODY that applies to UW will receive a secondary soon or later. is this true? i thought only selected students receive secondaries...

Not everyone receives a secondary. If you check their website, this is stated explicitly. I see your a resident of Washington? If so, you should have a good chance of receiving one if you haven't already. Either way, good luck. 👍

awww I want one!
