When it comes to submitting a secondary online that requires a picture, what size in pixels should it be?

It's different with each secondary. Some limit pixel size, others limit memory size.

Just don't upload a 1280 pixel image because then the adcom will be able to tell your pore size and if you missed a spot shaving that day. I hacked mine down to about 250 by something. 👍

I remember one application recommending a 150x150 pixel image for their secondary. Like previously mentioned, most don't have an exact requirement, although most are relatively small like 2'' x 2''. SLU's let me upload a fairly large picture, but i shrunk it down because it seemed too big.

Any suggestions as to what this picture should be? I'm a nontraditional student, and wasn't in a fraternity or anything, so I haven't had a professional picture taken in a long time. Should I just have someone take one of me in a shirt and tie?

I just had my girlfriend take a picture of me with my digital camera. I just took a shot from the shoulders up against a white background. I made sure the lighting looked ok, and I wore a button-up, collared shirt. I don't think they're expecting any kind of professional picture.
