Do I have to write some kind of essay?
Would I be at an disadvantage if I don't write anything here?

I think this one is optional. I did write one since I had a generic essay for all schools that was different from AMCAS essay. I do not know if this essay affects the admissions process. Maybe someone that has gone through the process can provide us with the story.
