Hi all, I am having trouble with answering this prompt:

“The University of Minnesota is a land grant institution with a mission to care for all of the people of our state. We aim to educate future clinicians toward this goal. Please reflect on how you might contribute to a learning environment comprised of a wide variety of individuals and provide specific examples from your professional and/or personal experiences”. (1500 chars)

I don’t quite know what angle to take, is this essentially a diversity prompt? I was considering talking about how I was raised in a different country and culture for 6 years, and then moved around the country when my family ended up moving back to the States. I felt that being raised this way was a big part of the development of my identity and things got more complicated when I discovered I was bisexual as the culture I was raised in is pretty conservative and queerphobic. I’m also an older (28) applicant with many years of clinical experience as an MA in an urgent care, and this is an experience I am really proud of as I love my job and am proud of the skills and growth I’ve achieved there since I’ve had the opportunity to learn and practice my skills a lot over the years, all in the same community.

Any perspectives are appreciated because I’m not sure what the best angle is here, with only 1500 characters!

You'd need to talk about how the experiences you've mentioned would help you contribute to an environment with diverse individuals (ex. maybe empathy, learning the importance of being your authentic self and encouraging others to do the same, etc)? Anyone with more expertise correct me if I'm wrong!
