If some questions ask about experiences/volunteer work that you've detailed elsewhere on the application. Is it ok to skip out on the context so I have more characters to talk about other information?

If some questions ask about experiences/volunteer work that you've detailed elsewhere on the application. Is it ok to skip out on the context so I have more characters to talk about other information?

I would assume so. For example, in Penn's secondary, they specifically say not to put down what already appears on your AADSAS application.
