So I've begun *looking* at the secondary essays for the schools listed on that other thread about schools who doesn't screen.

Am I supposed to be getting creative with these essays, or just stating the facts in an organized way?

When Yale says "why yale?" should I just focus on what I like about Yale, or should I be weaving in more personal info and reasons I fit etc?

there are so many great reasons to go to yale. but as far as being a good fit, you just have to be self-motivated and have a vision for what you want out of medical school. their whole thing is that they dont want to make you study or force you to do anything. they want to know that you will accomplish many things without them breathing down your neck. in other words, will you be productive with the freedom and the opportunities that they will give to you? if you read up on them and really like them, then show it in your essay. it might make the difference in being accepted or not. also, even if you arent that excited now, just make it seem as if youre excited cause you never know how you might feel later.

p.s. something that you might not glean from the yale viewbook is that the students have a lot of say in how their education is molded. they evaluate everything and anything that they feel is not helping them to learn or achieve their goals is usually changed in a snap (that was the impression that i got). it all goes into making the medical education cater to student needs.

for the rest of the essays, dont get too artsy fartsy. be creative but concrete. ive learned that adcoms do not appreciate the art in writing when it comes to the abstract.
