Appreciate Anesthesia input about the following situation. Patient is 34 yo woman with severe primary vaginismus who is interested in becoming pregnant. Attempts at physical therapy have made very little headway. 5 months of ICI (intracervical insemination) have not resulted in pregnancy.
Question: is there an appropriate sedation for intrauterine insemination which requires insertion of a speculum. Would you expect colonoscopy level sedation to help the patient tolerate the procedure. Does gyn have issues with use of fentanyl/midazolam for something like this?
