Hi everyone, I'm looking for some opinions on what would be the most beneficial next step for applying with my situation. I was pursuing dental school, but after some very influential experiences and shadowing a few great doctors I am convinced medicine is where I belonged from the start. As stated below, my GPA is obviously low relative the admitted applicant group. My questions are: what would be the best use of my time to make my application as competitive as possible? Is it best to raise my GPA using additional upper level undergrad courses? Or is a BMS (official post bach) program best? I would prefer taking additional undergrad courses but I wanted opinions of whether that was not as favorable as a graduate program. I realize its premature to evaluate application stats w/o an MCAT score, however, I know I will have to improve my GPA one way or another, so that is what I need help with first. I am open to both MD and DO and I have read about how the DO App will replace grades of class re-takes, so I'm aware of that option. Thank you in advance.

BS Biology SGPA 3.0 CGPA 3.18
DAT 20

I would (and did) take a whole bunch of undergrad science courses to boost the GPA, either in a formal or informal post bacc.

There is an advantage to the formal only of you will need them during the application process. if you can rely on your undergrad institution for that, then informal is fine.

Try to choose a top school to take the courses and, of course, you will need a lot of As to make a dent in your gpa.

Thank you for the response. If you don't mind me asking, how many classes/credits did you end up taking? I know it will take great grades to influence the higher total credits. Thanks again.
